MATERIALS LIBRARY GUIDELINES

As signatories of the AIA Materials Pledge, we are committed to supporting materials and manufacturers that support the health of people and planet. We report our material use annually, working toward a goal of establishing consistent metrics for our industry.

As of 2026, we’re aligning our materials program with the Common Materials Framework (CMF) to streamline and automate materials vetting—scaling sustainable decision-making across every project.

The CMF is a collaborative framework developed by mindful MATERIALS, creating a share structure that allows data to flow across platforms and standards – marking sustainable building product information more consistent, comparable, and actionable.

We assess the materials in our library based on the five impact areas above. Materials that provide documentation of their impact in each area are preferred.

Lunch and Learn Guidelines

Our team is committed to reducing our impact on the environment in every way possible.  As a Certified B Corporation we strive to be leaders in best holistic business practices.

We are grateful to product reps who nourish us with food as well as knowledge, and appreciate their support in our low impact efforts by observing our policies for all food delivery for lunch and learn presentations.

Our Climate Action Plan and animal welfare policy support eating a plant-based diet. Please make sure that at least 50% of the food offered is vegetarian — vegan offerings are appreciated, but not necessary.

Placework strives to be a zero-waste office. When ordering, please ask for:

• NO plastic utensils
• NO straws
• NO extra cups or plates
• NO tiny condiments such as creamers, sugar packets, ketchup, salt & pepper, etc.
