Where to Start?
Our work brings us into relationship with talented people from a broad spectrum of fields and disciplines. When considering a potential building project, however, all face uncertainty and near universal questions:
What are our current and future needs? How much will it cost? How long will it take? What are some of the challenges we should expect along the way?
Often referred to as a concept phase, feasibility study or master planning, a study offers the ability to objectively define project requirements, examine existing conditions, compare design alternatives and develop budget and funding strategies, all before committing to a lengthy and more costly design effort. Placework adds value for our clients by providing answers to these essential questions early in the life of a project.
From Uncertainty to Opportunity
It’s easy to become overwhelmed by unknowns, especially at the outset of a project. At Placework, we value the study as a way of deepening our understanding of our clients, an outlet for creative problem-solving, and re-framing challenges into opportunities.
A study might be limited to planning a renovation, developing concepts for a new ground-up building, facility inventory and maintenance recommendations, all the way up through urban-scale master planning. It may include regulatory or due-diligence requirements such as environmental or historic assessment, surveys, due diligence, or other technical tasks.
