Our Approach
Placework is a collaborative partner for designing innovative learning environments. Whether transforming existing buildings or adding something new, we create inspiring experiences for students, faculty, and the entire extended community.
Our clients represent a diverse array of education environments, from early childhood development centers to universities. We work on projects of all scales providing preliminary planning, design, contract documents, and construction administration.
Placework’s relationship with the University System of New Hampshire spans more than ten years and 40 projects that include planning studies, adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and renovation projects. A recent project for Saint Anselm College involved the transformation of a former boiler plant into a flexible learning environment for the school’s Humanities Institute. From an innovative early learning center to an experiential learning classroom for a public school district, our broad range of experience can bring new perspectives to your next project.
A Different Practice
Our team includes architects who hold LEED Accreditation, Living Future Accreditation (LFA) Regenerative Practitioner, and Certified Passive House Certification (CPHC). We have developed an Action Plan for Climate + Care that guides our design work as well as our engagement with clients, communities, and our team.
As a Certified B Corporation, we define goals, measure our impact, and work to continually improve practices that support social and environmental justice.
Opportunities to teach and learn from students also inform how we work.
